Your Opportunity
The role of the Optometrist Store Manager is to drive the performance of the store, taking responsibility for the day-to-day business including all aspects of eyecare within the store. The focus of this role is to lead a motivated and passionate team of experienced optical professionals (Optometrists and Retail teams) with leadership, support, knowledge and tools to ensure the highest standard of clinical eye examination, diagnosis, treatment and solutions, and deliver world-class customer service. As an Optometrist in our stores you will get to work with world class technology including Retinal Camera, Visual Field Analyser, Non-contact tonometer, Corneal Topographer, Optos UWDRS and OCT. You will also understand the lives behind the eyes and identify how OPSM can help maximise a customer’s lifestyle enjoyment factor with appropriate eyecare, while providing the highest level of tailored customer service.

Your Responsibilities

  • Perform eye examinations for a broad range and scope of customers by taking on different types of appointments e.g. kids, contact lenses, therapeutics etc.
  • Confidently recommend lens solutions based on customer lifestyles
  • Clearly explain lens technology, communicating the features and benefits of lens products to customers including coatings and extras
  • Coach and mentor Graduate Optometrists in the usage and recommendation of technology to customers
  • Maximise Eyecare revenue, including but not limited to technology, Optometry labour efficiencies and appropriate Medicare billing
  • Results oriented, executing clearly defined individual store business plans focusing on growing profitability and monitoring local competitor activity.
  • Sets challenging goals and enjoys leading teams toward stretch targets.
  • Actively supports and grows the business through local store marketing initiatives. Identifies actions to drive customer traffic & appointment growth
  • Working closely with Operations to ensure Customer & Business Success through execution of Eyecare & Eyewear strategies and plans.
  • Establish clear and specific performance goals and priorities. Give regular and timely feedback, help individuals track progress toward agreed goals. Identify talent and potential and create individual development plans supporting career development and talent pipelining.
  • Demonstrate ability to address team concerns, hold difficult conversations when needed, and resolve conflict appropriately.
  • Ensure our optometrists and team members understand and adhere to best practice processes, quality standards, clinical excellence methods and procedures.
  • Be the Role Model and Advocate in clinical, technical or functional proficiency in technology, product knowledge, solutions and services.
