Key Responsibilities:

Diesel Mechanic - Mobile Plant

  • Maintenance & Repairs:
  • Perform routine servicing, diagnostics, and repairs on a wide range of mobile plant equipment, including dump trucks, cement trucks, road transport tippers, heavy mobile equipment, loaders, and excavators.
  • Conduct inspections and identify mechanical faults or issues; efficiently perform troubleshooting and fault-finding to resolve mechanical problems promptly.
  • Overhaul and repair engines, transmissions, axles, and other mechanical systems to ensure the safe and efficient operation of mobile equipment.
  • Troubleshooting & Fault-Finding:
  • Utilize advanced diagnostic tools and methods to identify mechanical issues in mobile plant equipment.
  • Effectively troubleshoot and resolve problems, minimizing downtime and ensuring equipment is returned to service in a timely manner.
  • Preventative Maintenance:
  • Perform scheduled maintenance on all mobile plant machinery and vehicles, including fluid checks, filter changes, tire inspections, and general upkeep.
  • Adhere to a regular preventative maintenance schedule to extend the lifespan of equipment and reduce the risk of major repairs.

QUALIFICATIONS | EXPERIENCE | CAPABILITIES

  • Qualifications:
  • Trade qualification in Diesel Mechanic (Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent).
  • Valid driver’s license (manual preferred) and experience in operating heavy mobile plant equipment.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Diesel Mechanic, with a focus on mobile plant equipment (e.g., dump trucks, cement trucks, tippers, loaders, excavators).
  • Proven experience with troubleshooting, fault-finding, and repairing a variety of mobile plant and machinery.
  • Experience with various equipment brands is beneficial, but not essential.
  • Skills & Attributes:
  • Advanced diagnostic skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical problems quickly and efficiently.
  • Experience working with diesel engines, hydraulics, air brakes, and electrical systems in heavy equipment.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a proactive approach to teamwork and problem-solving.
