About the role:

We are searching for a dedicated individual who possess a strong passion for working closely with students and are committed to delivering top-notch care and assistance to both students and educators. The ideal candidate should feel comfortable operating in a classroom environment, especially with primary school-aged students, as this position pertains to a specialised school setting. This role entails a 30-hour workweek, Monday through Friday and offers a unique opportunity to make a positive impact in the lives of vulnerable young learners.

Our organisation is focused on providing support and mentoring to the successful trainee as well as providing on the job training for 12 Months. About you:

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to follow instructions from teachers as well as use initiative
  • Compassionate, caring and patient
  • Capable of providing physical and emotional support to students
  • Must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Willing to attend RTO/TAFE training located in Deer Park during school holidays
  • Valid Victorian Working with Children Check
  • Able to commit to a 12 month Traineeship

What you will do:

  • Providing routine support for teachers
  • Assisting with planning of student routines
  • Communicating with teachers about routine matters
  • Communicating with student/s to support comprehension of basic tasks and information
  • Addressing immediate behavioural presentations relating to specific students within a classroom setting aligned to school policy and procedures
  • Provide basic support and supervision for individuals or small groups of up to four students within a classroom setting
