_Study a Certificate IV in Government while undertaking work at a local Government Department._

**Position Objective**:

- To provide excellent customer service by efficiently and effectively responding to customer requests and using education and enforcement activities to resolve customer requests relating to breaches of the Local Law and other relevant legislation
- To proactively improve the amenity and safety of the municipality by achieving compliance with relevant legislation through customer engagement, and education and enforcement activities
- Actively support Wyndham City's Vision, Mission & Values
- To contribute to the success of the Department through active teamwork and effective performance of the responsibilities and duties

**Key responsibilities include**:

- Assisting Local Laws Officers in investigating breaches of the Local Law and Environment Protection Act, including education and enforcement relating to dumped litter, unsightly properties, abandoned vehicles, overhanging / obstructing vegetation, building site compliance, footpath trading, and all other Local Law matters
- Assisting Road Safety and Parking Officers in investigating and enforcing illegal parking, including around schools and business activity centres
- Assisting Planning Investigations Officers in investigating breaches of the Wyndham Planning Scheme and existing Planning Permits
- Support the team to undertake education with community members on their responsibilities under legislation relating to safety and amenity
- Undertake proactive inspections of the municipality to ensure Wyndham is clean, safe and presentable
- Efficiently and effectively respond to requests and complaints from members of the public, in accordance with standard policies and procedures
- Record details of inspections and outcomes in Council's CRM system
- Provide a positive personal contribution to the successful operation of the City Amenity team

**About you**:

- Sound computer skills, experience working with MS office
- Be reliable, punctual and have the willingness to learn and obtain a Certificate IV in Government Investigations
- Written communication skills
- Strong customer service focus
- Ability to contribute positively in a team environment
- Good communication, organisation and administrative skills
- Ability to plan and manage own time in accordance with priorities and daily workload
- An interest in local government and passionate about working with people

**Requirements for the role**:

- Victoria Driver's Licence
- Must be living in Wyndham
- Current Working With Children Check or ability to obtain one if successful
- Undertake in a police check as part of the recruitment process
