The Role
The APS 6 Technical Governance and Assurance (TGA) Engineer will understand the application of systems engineering processes, regulation, legislation, as well as engineering management plans and procedures.
They will provide:
The TGA Engineer responsibilities/requirements include, but are not limited to:
Upholding Defence and Uncrewed Aerial Systems Management Unit (UASMU) behaviours, values and culture. Individual and team performance. Be accountable. Effectively work and collaborate within an integrated team environment. Achieve goals assigned goals. Conduct Uncrewed Aerial System (UAS) Engineering activities in accordance with the Army Aviation Systems Branch and tailored UAS Engineering Management System (EMS).
Assist in the transition of Products from acquisition to sustainment by:
Project Management activities. Quality Management System activities. Artefact Review activities. Engineering performance monitoring and continuous improvement. Administration, briefing, correspondence, training, stakeholder liaison activities. Assisting the CENGR, Senior Engineering Manager, Product Manager and broader UASMU program as required.
About our Team
The Cargo Helicopter and Uncrewed Surveillance Program Office (CHUSPO) delivers through-life support for the CH-47F Chinook and Army Aviation System Branch supported fleet of Uncrewed Aerial Systems. The Program Office is made up of the Cargo Helicopter Management Unit (CHMU), the Uncrewed Aerial Systems Management Unit (UASMU), the Army Uncrewed Aerial Systems Acquisition Program Office (AUAS APO) and the Business Management Unit (BMU).
UASMU delivers leading edge sustainment support services to the ADF’s Uncrewed Aerial System (UAS) fleets by sensing and adapting to developments in technology and applications. This enables UAS to be an integral part of Defence operations. UASMU is responsible for managing the in-service platforms Black Hornet 3, R70 Skyranger, Wasp AE, Puma AE/LE, SkyLark I-LEX, Shadow 200, and Integrator. UASMU also supports a program of continuous introduction into service of new tactical and small UAS platforms.

Our ideal candidate will possess the ability to work under broad direction to perform and achieve complex engineering and oversight activities within a multi-disciplinary, integrated, workforce. They are accountable to have and maintain a well-developed understanding of the engineering and oversight frameworks within Defence. They will have highly developed communication skills, excellent attention to detail and have the ability to collaborate across key aviation stakeholders to achieve high quality outcomes.
To be successful in this role, you will bring the following attributes and skills to the role:
In-depth knowledge of the Defence engineering and oversight activities. Previous experience in engineering and oversight systems. Strong problem-solving and issues resolution skills. Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills. Strong analytical skills and the ability to identify, resolve and mitigate risks associated with engineering and oversight activities. Ability to provide expert policy advice and guidance on technical matters within area of expertise.
