About the role

The purpose of the role is to provide leadership, accountability and lifecycle strategic procurement expertise for managing and optimising the large and complex IT spend worth approximately $100 million per annum across both WorkSafe and the TAC.  Position accountabilities include:

  • Overseeing and governing all IT-related procurement activity across WorkSafe and TAC, including procurement activities
  • Leading and executing all high value and complexity procurements and supply chain opportunities
  • Developing and delivering the annual IT procurement Program of Work, including achieving target  benefits
  • Acting as a single point of escalation across both organisations for any systemic, contractual or commercial IT procurement issues
  • Developing and executing long term strategic plans for all IT procurement categories, key vendors and associated contracts
  • Providing C-suite trusted advice to WorkSafe and TAC executives on all IT procurement-related matters.
  • Designing and executing strategies to deliver on all relevant Victorian Government IT procurement directives or imperatives.

About you

The successful candidate will be responsible for balancing leadership skills with hands-on ’doing’.  As an experienced procurement expert, it is expected that your recommendations will impact the direction of policies, programs, projects and possibly strategy for ITSS and other WorkSafe / TAC Business Units.  You will have:

  • Recognised technical expertise in Procurement with specific experience delivering major IT and strategic projects
  • An expert knowledge of the systems and regulations governing the IT industry
  • Demonstrated ability to partner with key suppliers to develop and implement IT improvement initiatives
  • Extensive experience in dealing with key IT industry players including multinational service providers and consultants, with an ability to demonstrate relationship management, business acumen and communication skills with senior key stakeholders
  • Demonstrate expertise in leading IT negotiations which achieve desired outcomes for highly complex and critical procurement activities
  • Demonstrated ability to liaise in a professional manner with a range of internal and external clients/stakeholders
  • Proven ability to undertake complex planning, and juggle and prioritise the timely delivery of multiple procurement initiatives
  • Exemplary stakeholder and relationship management at all levels
