Salary: $74,000 plus 11% superannuation

Our client Mechid Trailers & Bins is licensed motor dealer and a local manufacturer of quality bins and trailers and has a manufacturing plant & showroom conveniently located in Minchinbury, NSW.

The client is looking for a full-time permanent Fitter-Welder to contribute to the production of high-quality trailers and bins through the skilled fabrication, welding, and assembly of metal parts. This is an interesting and challenging role for an experienced Fitter/Welder.

The successful candidate will be responsible for studying technical drawings and specifications, cutting, grinding, and shaping metal and other materials, joining metal sections using various welding techniques, and assembling metal parts and subassemblies to produce Bins, Trailers and other equipment.

The job requires you to be physically fit and be able to work towards daily production targets. There is a great opportunity here for the right person to show their capabilities and grow with us.

This is a full-time position and is available for an immediate start. The successful applicant will be suitably trade qualified with Certificate IV with at least 3 years’ experience.

In this role your main responsibilities include:

·      Studying drawings and specifications to determine suitable material, method and sequence of operations, and machine settings

·      Cutting, grinding and shaping metal and other materials using specialised tools and machinery

·      Creating quality welds according to blueprints

·      Use measuring instruments to accurately align material

·      De-bur and grind metal as necessary to achieve proper surface texture

·      Joining metal sections using various welding techniques

·      Fitting fabricated metal parts into products and assembling metal parts and subassemblies to produce machines and equipment

·      Operating angle grinders to prepare the parts that are to be welded

·      Testing and inspecting welded surfaces to identify flaws

·      Performing key measurements and visual checks

·      Checking fabricated and assembled metal parts for accuracy, clearance and fit using precision measuring instruments

·      Diagnosing and repairing faults with tools and machinery and performing regular maintenance

·      Handling site deliveries and transporting products and equipment on site

·      Following, creating and helping maintain Welding Procedure Specifications

• Setting guides and controls on machining tools

·      Assemble items as instructed by floor supervisor

·      Examine welds for width of bead, penetration and precision

·      Dress finished products by cleaning, polishing and filing

·      Troubleshoot broken areas

·      Follow all safety rules and quality standards

·      Work with team members to maximize productivity and efficiency

 To be considered for this role you must have:

·      MIG Welding – at least 2 years’ experience. Welding some structural sections & fabrication of process equipment

·      TIG Welding – at least 2 years’ experience

·      Ability to interpret shop drawings

·      Ability to perform simple shop math

·      An understanding of the fabrication process, terminology and documentation

·      Understanding of Workplace Health and Safety processes and procedures

·      Ability to prioritize, multi-task and work in a team-based environment.

·      Able to work unsupervised.

·      Good hand-eye coordination

·      Excellent fabrication and welding skills

·      Understanding of Workplace health and safety procedures
