Job Title: WHS & EMS Coordinator
Location: Laverton, VIC

Position Overview:
The WHS & EMS Coordinator will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) and Environmental Management Systems (EMS) at our Laverton facility. This role is crucial in ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, promoting a culture of safety and sustainability, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • WHS Management:
    • Develop, implement, and maintain WHS policies and procedures in line with company standards and legislative requirements.
    • Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and workplace inspections to identify hazards and implement corrective actions.
    • Lead incident investigations, analyze root causes, and develop strategies to prevent future occurrences.
    • Coordinate and deliver WHS training programs to ensure all employees are aware of safety procedures and regulations.
  • EMS Management:
    • Develop and implement environmental policies and management plans to ensure compliance with ISO 14001 standards.
    • Monitor and manage environmental impact, including waste management, pollution control, and resource conservation.
    • Conduct environmental audits and assessments, and manage corrective actions to address non-compliance issues.
    • Promote environmental awareness and sustainable practices among employees through training and communication.
  • Compliance and Reporting:
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant WHS and environmental legislation, standards, and codes of practice.
    • Prepare detailed reports for internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies and senior management.
    • Maintain accurate records of all WHS and EMS activities, incidents, and training sessions.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Identify opportunities for improving WHS and EMS performance and implement initiatives to achieve these improvements.
    • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and proactive safety and environmental management.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Qualified in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in WHS and EMS roles, preferably within the food manufacturing or similar industry.
  • Strong knowledge of WHS and environmental legislation and standards, AS4801 or ISO 14001.
  • Proven experience in conducting risk assessments, safety audits, and incident investigations.
  • Excellent communication and training skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing issues.
