Siemens Mobility is a leading provider of transport solutions, delivering products, systems, and services for mobility. Our portfolio ranges from rail automation and electrification, to intelligent traffic systems and digital mobility solutions. We are a dynamic, innovative company with a diverse team of individuals who are passionate about delivering the best possible solutions to our customers.
We have an opportunity for a Legal Counsel to join our small, agile in-house Legal team. The role will provide support on legal topics including advising on some significant and cutting-edge infrastructure projects across Australia and New Zealand. This will include involvement in projects similar to the recently awarded Sydney Metro Western Sydney Airport Project (NSW largest transport PPP to date).
You’ll be working in a collaborative team, reporting to the General Counsel and will have a high degree of autonomy, working in particular with non-legal colleagues who will partner with you as a trusted advisor.
This permanent role is preferably based in our Brisbane office (Bowen Hills), but for the right candidate we are willing to consider other locations such as Sydney or Melbourne.
You will have strong front end construction law experience and experience gained in infrastructure projects generally and particularly in the transport sector would be of great interest to us. You will be responsible for the timely provision of legal advice across the Siemens Mobility business being involved in the negotiation and finalisation of various forms of design & construct contracts (including PPP’s), Alliancing etc.
This is your role. What part will you play?
- Working with and providing advice to internal business partners as a trusted advisor on all legal and commercial matters.
- Managing the legal aspects of tenders from RFT through the negotiation and final execution phase.
- Identifying and analysing legal risks and opportunities and driving solutions.
- Proactively advise on risk and opportunity strategies and mitigations
- Reporting on material legal risks and proceedings to meet relevant internal and external processes, regulations, and requirements.
- Support development of effective commercial contractual strategies and arrangements.
- Ensuring adherence to Siemens’ policies and processes and corporate governance/compliance requirements.
Use your skills to move the world forward.
- You have minimum 3 years of relevant post qualification experience.
- Experience in construction & commercial contracting in the Transport sector is highly desirable
- In-house experience or secondment experience would be beneficial.
- Must be able to work autonomously and to make decisions independently based on an assessment of risk.
