Job Description

Reporting to the Rail Manager Perth, Locomotive Driver / Shunters are essential to the efficient operation of our Rail Yard.  

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting safe and efficient rail movements within the Forrestfield area to deliver wagons to our customers. 
  • Performing rail duties with a high level of attention to safety requirements, including SCT Rail Policies and instructions, and applicable state and federal legislations. 
  • A strong customer focus orientation to promote the efficiency of wagon delivery. 
  • Working within a team environment with potential for leadership opportunities.

Established in 1974 by Peter Smith, SCT is now a national, multi-modal transport and logistics company. In June 1995 SCT Logistics became the first private rail operator to commence services on the interstate rail network which coincided with the completion of the standardisation of the rail gauge track between the states in Australia.

Desired Skills and Experience

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working in rail operations.
  • Shunting & Train Driving Qualifications. 
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Current Track Access Permit (TAP)
  • Physical fitness and ability to work in various weather conditions and satisfy CAT 1 Rail Medical. 
  • Valid C Class Driver’s License
  • Conduct himself/herself in a manner that ensures SCT Rail is recognised as a safe, reliable and quality supplier of rail related services
