We do more than collect the bin from your street, we also convert waste into clean energy, divert food waste from landfill and convert to compost, manufacture customised waste management equipment, asbestos removal, refine and recycle oil, manage and maintain our fleet inhouse and have our own bespoke technology systems.

Our teams include Drivers/Operators, Heavy Vehicle Mechanics, Customer Service, Operations, Finance, IT/Digital, Environment, Engineering, Industrial Chemists, Safety, Administration and much more . . .

THE ROLE 

JJ’s Health & Hygiene is a division of JJ’s Waste & Recycling specialising in the collection, treatment, and disposal of Clinical and Related waste. The division also provides a comprehensive washroom service. 

In this role you will lead our service team, ensuring the ongoing success of our well-established and diverse waste collection & washroom service operations in the Mackay region. 

This is a grassroots / hands-on supervisor role with huge opportunity for growth and development.  

DUTIES

  • Provide assistance to the Operations Manager and oversee operations on a day-to-day basis
  • Lead the service team and engage in run scheduling and optimisation
  • Become a proficient operator of all service vehicles and site-based processing equipment 
  • Provide vehicle operations training and undertake periodic assessment of driver performance 
  • Ensure all drivers and staff comply with JJs training requirements and accreditation
  • Strive to achieve and uphold a high level of customer service within the business 
  • Establish and manage relations with customers and the public 
  • Comply with laws, regulations and requirements
  • Strive for improvement in operations whilst upholding a high level of safety at all times
  • Stakeholder engagement - community, team, customers

ABOUT YOU

  • Experience in Transport/Logistics industry
  • Have a HR truck licence and be prepared to get your hands dirty to perform a variety of driving and other operational roles (as required)
  • Have a Forklift Licence 
  • Dedicated, practical, pragmatic, and have an interest in understanding and working in the waste management / environmental services industry
  • Able to provide up to date QLD Roads Driving Record at interview stage
  • Interested in leading a team and managing people to achieve business goals
  • Able to successfully satisfy a pre-employment medical
