Alice Springs, Australia Amentum Full time

The role of the Nurse is to work as part of the primary health care team, providing personal Medical Services to the employees and their eligible dependents.  To assist the medical personnel in the care of the practice patients to include treatment, preventative care, screening and patient education.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

To ensure the provision of quality nursing care through efficient and effective, safe and timely services exercising a significant level of initiative in the direct coordination, implementation and evaluation of care with appropriate outcomes
To provide nursing care to patients, including treatment, screening, advice, and minor therapeutic procedures within the scope of the practitioner.
To run special clinics for patients including children’s health, vaccination, diabetes education, quit counselling, would management, health promotion, pathology collection
To undertake diagnostic testing including pathology and blood glucose monitoring, respiratory function tests, ECG’s, urine analysis, audiology testing and others
To manage databases and initiate five(5) year rotation physical examinations.  To provide immunisations to adults and children including travel vaccination advice/education
To ensure the medical clinics are well stocked and in good order, as well as contribute to infection control within the medical clinics
To provide telephone advice to patients including results and general medical advice
To ensure the safety of staff and visitors to the medical clinics
Ensure, promote, and maintain health and safety practices/compliances at site and within the workplace.
Any other reasonable duties as requested.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Nursing/Final Nursing Qualification
  • Licencing with AHPRA
  • Post Graduate Qualification in:  Acute or Emergency Care, Primary Health Care, Practice Nurse, Remote area Nurse

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS – Minimum Essential

  • 2+ years’ experience
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Australian medical and nursing guidelines and standards
  • Knowledge and skill in using medical equipment and devices
  • Experience in the use of electronic medical records systems and record keeping in accordance with medical confidential requirements
  • Basic knowledge of computer applications e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel and data entry
  • High-lever of communication:  written and verbal, teamwork and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independent and collaborative with a motivated group of health professionals
  • Uphold the Code of Conduct and adhere to Program and Company Policies
  • Ability to coordinate and monitor clinics as required

WORK ENVIRONMENT, PHYSICAL DEMANDS, AND MENTAL DEMANDS

  • Clinical environment with typical hazards associated with adult care practice (for example, bloodborne pathogens, sharps, communicable diseases), occasional lifting of 10kg independently, carry emergency medical packs, load and unload medical equipment into vehicle, transfer immobilized patients utilizing medical devices, e.g. stretchers, wheelchairs, etc.  Constant sitting while using the computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, must possess planning/organizing/management skills, must be able to work under deadlines. Some work in other environments may be necessary in emergency response situations.

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT

It is a condition of employment that employees obtain and retain the appropriate level of security clearance and medical clearance applicable to each role. The employee will require a Top-Secret Positive Vetting (TSPV) Department of Defence Security Clearance (Australian) or TS/SCI (U.S.) clearance w/ Poly.

STATEMENT OF WORK REQUIREMENTS

All personnel shall be:

  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Able to fluently read, write and speak English

EHS REQUIREMENT

All Amentum personnel are responsible for understanding and complying with all environmental, health and safety requirements. While Amentum is responsible for providing a safe workplace and is responsible for ensuring compliance with requirements of the EHS Handbook, each person is responsible for:

  • Completing work tasks in a safe manner
  • Reporting any unsafe acts or conditions to their supervisor and/or PMO/EHS Manager
  • Continuous adherence to the environmental, health and safety procedures outlined in the EHS Handbook during the performance of their work
  • Red-Carding a Job - Employee right and responsibility to “STOP WORK” if a job is unsafe or possess a danger to the environment
