About the Project  
The ICF fibre network is an iconic project that only comes around once in a lifetime, It involves the renewal/upgrade of the existing inter-city network across the Nation. The new inter-city fibre cable uses technically improved optic fibre cable, and architecture which will provide additional capacity between capital cities and remote communities to enhance performance and improve connectivity to regional Australia which will support the anticipated growth in bandwidth over the next 25+ years.
 

About the role 
Responsible for creating detailed designs and plans for fibre optic networks, including route selection, cable placement, splice locations, and network connectivity, while ensuring adherence to industry standards, project requirements, and regulatory guidelines. 
The ideal candidate will have a background and be familiar working on Telstra Fibre optic networks guidelines and standards with a proven experience in detailed design. 
 

Duties can Include: 

  • Meet requirements and expectation of detailed designs as to the design work schedule as defined by the Design Team Leader / Manager,
  • Liaise with Engineering & Construction staff to ensure accurate survey and measurement data is integrated into construction plans
  • Execute accurate design documentation in AutoCAD
  • Communication with all other members for the Engineering and Design team
  • Produce Bill of Quantities and Bill of Materials for allocated SAMs
  • Liaise with third party asset owners to ensure usage requirements are met
  • Produce detailed construction documentation in line with contractual requirements
  • Coordinate all inputs into construction documentation
  • Delivery of design on-time, within budget and to quality standards.
  • Working closely with Construction Team, Land Access Team, Surveyors, and Field Managers to ensure project priorities are being managed.
  • Working closely with the Design Manager and Project Officers on any variations and contractual notices associated with the completion of design activities.
     

About you 
We are interested in speaking to candidates who have a natural flair for problem solving and the ability to communicate effectively across a broad range of stakeholders. You will have a passion for the use of CAD & relevant design software as well as ample knowledge of the telecommunication industry including design guidelines and specifications

  • Hold design expertise that thrives in project environments 
  • Certificate IV in telecommunications (Desirable)
  • Design experience on Telstra projects 
  • Previous experience using telstra Databases,  MITS, TPD, Multiman, NETmaps, CAD.
