About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Chemist for a full-time position at our North Shore Processing Plant located on the beautiful Koombana Beach in the heart of Bunbury 

Enjoy the gorgeous beach location even more as we work a compressed 38-hour week, 9-day fortnight, enjoy every second Friday off 

Reporting to the Quality Laboratory Lead the Chemist will be accountable for:

• Developing and maintaining XRF calibrations suitable for laboratory requirements
• Monitoring quality control within the laboratory
• Participating in projects to implement new instrumentation and methodologies to the analytical laboratory
• Ensuring analytical method validation and measurement uncertainty are applied to all laboratory test methodologies
• Demonstrating a proactive approach to teamwork, continuous improvement and cost-reduction
• Reporting on process deviations; assisting in plant investigations and problem resolution; advising on protocols for testing and making recommendations for test methodologies.
• Ensuring optimal availability of equipment by adherence to maintenance/calibration schedules and timely modifications/repairs.
• Participating in Global Quality Laboratory projects
• Maintaining laboratory reporting systems including SQL database, S4 Fiori and Excel worksheets
• Investigating complaints, queries or deviations from test methods and providing recommendations for preventative and corrective measures
• Maintaining the laboratory quality management system in accordance with ISO17025 requirements. 
• Performing audits on laboratory and company quality management systems
• Driving improvement in laboratory safety, including reduction in risk from manual handling duties
• Performing testing and reporting requirements for the laboratory as required

About You

To be successful in this role you will ideally need:

Essential:

• Bachelor Degree in Science based discipline, chemistry preferred 
• Experience working in a laboratory
• Highly motivated and promotes a safe and inclusive work environment

Desirable: 

• Detailed knowledge and understanding of XRF calibration
• High level of competency with Excel formulas and data connections
• Experience working in NATA accredited laboratory
• Trained and experienced in performing internal audits
• S4 Fiori knowledge
