About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced Chemist to join our team at the North Shore Processing Plant in Bunbury. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining XRF calibrations, monitoring quality control, and participating in projects to implement new instrumentation and methodologies.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain XRF calibrations suitable for laboratory requirements
- Monitor quality control within the laboratory
- Participate in projects to implement new instrumentation and methodologies
- Ensure analytical method validation and measurement uncertainty are applied to all laboratory test methodologies
- Demonstrate a proactive approach to teamwork, continuous improvement, and cost-reduction
- Report on process deviations, assist in plant investigations, and provide recommendations for test methodologies
- Ensure optimal availability of equipment by adherence to maintenance/calibration schedules and timely modifications/repairs
- Participate in Global Quality Laboratory projects
- Maintain laboratory reporting systems, including SQL database, S4 Fiori, and Excel worksheets
- Investigate complaints, queries, or deviations from test methods and provide recommendations for preventative and corrective measures
- Maintain the laboratory quality management system in accordance with ISO17025 requirements
- Perform audits on laboratory and company quality management systems
- Drive improvement in laboratory safety, including reduction in risk from manual handling duties
- Perform testing and reporting requirements for the laboratory as required
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Bachelor's Degree in a Science-based discipline, with a preference for chemistry
- Experience working in a laboratory
- Highly motivated and promotes a safe and inclusive work environment
Desirable qualifications include detailed knowledge and understanding of XRF calibration, high-level competency with Excel formulas and data connections, experience working in a NATA-accredited laboratory, and trained and experienced in performing internal audits.
