The Role

As a Specialist Clinician within Neurology at MQ Health, you will be responsible for the provision of high-quality general neurological clinical assessment, management, and consultation to Neurology patients at MQ Health. The role will also provide education, supervision and support to doctors in training and students and engage in ongoing research, quality assurance and improvement activities.

Key Accountabilities include ():

Deliver a Neurology clinical service within the scope of practice as granted by the Medical Advisory Committee and approved by the MQ Health Board to patients of MQ Health.

Liaise and work effectively with allied health professionals involved in patient care including the broader care team.

Bring expertise to contribute to the planning and establishment of a multidisciplinary MQ Advanced Parkinson’s Disease service with stimulator programming, Duodopa and other advanced therapies as they become available.

Initiate and participate in Discipline, Program, Hospital and MQ Health quality assurance and risk management projects as required.

Ensure compliance with the standards contained within the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards for accreditation.

Supervise and mentor doctors in training to the standards required by the relevant training authority.

About you

MQ Health seeks an experienced neurologist with interest in extending across clinical and academic pursuits. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated interested in neurodegenerative disease and movement disorders. Joining MQ Health Neurology as part of Macquarie University’s Health Sciences Centre, the candidate will work in inter-disciplinary and cross-disciplinary care.

Excellent communication skills and ability to foster a collaborative and efficient working environment are highly desirable attributes.
