Your Opportunity

Northern Sydney Youth Homelessness Service provides case management, counselling, and advocacy support to young people (12-24 years old) who are experiencing homelessness or at risk of becoming homeless.

The case support worker will assist case managers in providing support to young people who are at risk by exploring housing options, address mental health/AOD concerns and engage with education/employment opportunities whilst ensuring clients are connected within the community for ongoing independence and stability.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Support case managers to undertake initial registrations and induct consumers into the service
  • Assist consumers through brief therapeutic interventions and respond to referrals of consumers to the service from internal and external support services
  • Provide specialist advice and share knowledge of local networks and maintain positive internal and external stakeholder relationships
  • Ensure all required internal and external consumer paperwork are completed and undertake other general administrative tasks
  • Support in a range of program activities including the completion of internal and external reports, statistics, feedback summaries and yearly outcomes.

Requirements for Success

  • Relevant qualification with minimum of 1 years’ experience working with young people.
  • Knowledge and awareness of recovery orientated practice and trauma informed care
  • Experience with clients dealing with issues including homelessness, poverty, abuse, mental health and the use and misuse of alcohol and other drugs, and knowledge of support services
  • Highly developed administrative skills along with well-developed written and oral communication

Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
