Position: Interior Designer (Medical Sector Focus)

Company Overview:

We are a leading commercial interiors/fit-out company located in Sydney, specializing in designing innovative and functional interior spaces for various sectors, including the medical industry. We are seeking a highly motivated and creative Interior Designer to join our dynamic team.

Key Responsibilities:

Conceptualization and Design:

  • Develop creative interior design concepts tailored specifically for medical facilities, aligning with client goals, brand identity, and functional requirements.
  • Generate detailed floor plans, mood boards, renderings, and presentations to effectively communicate design ideas to medical clients and stakeholders.

Space Planning:

  • Conduct thorough space analysis of medical facilities to optimize layouts for efficiency while ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.
  • Design functional and aesthetically pleasing spatial arrangements that cater to the specific needs of medical practices and clinics.

Material and Finishes Selection:

  • Collaborate with suppliers to select appropriate materials, finishes, furnishings, fixtures, and equipment suitable for medical environments, considering factors such as durability, infection control, and ease of maintenance.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and innovations in medical interior design to provide cutting-edge solutions.

Client Interaction:

  • Conduct client meetings with medical professionals to understand their unique requirements, present design proposals tailored to healthcare settings, and incorporate feedback into design revisions.
  • Build strong client relationships by effectively communicating and demonstrating a deep understanding of medical facility needs and regulatory constraints.

Technical Documentation:

  • Prepare detailed technical drawings and specifications for medical interior design elements, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.
  • Collaborate closely with architects and engineers to integrate interior designs seamlessly with the overall building structure of medical facilities.

Project Coordination:

  • Work closely with project managers and contractors to oversee the implementation of interior design concepts in medical facilities during construction and fit-out phases.
  • Conduct site visits to monitor progress, address any design-related issues, and ensure designs are executed according to plan while adhering to medical facility requirements.

Budget Management:

  • Assist in the development of project budgets and cost estimates related to interior design elements for medical facilities.
  • Source cost-effective alternatives without compromising design quality or compliance with healthcare regulations.

Code Compliance and Sustainability:

  • Ensure interior designs adhere to relevant building codes, accessibility standards, and safety regulations specific to medical facilities.
  • Incorporate sustainable design principles and practices to create environmentally responsible interiors conducive to healing environments.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (3+ years) working as an interior designer, preferably with a focus on medical interior design projects.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and 3D rendering tools.
  • Strong understanding of spatial layouts, furniture, fixtures, materials, and finishes suitable for medical environments.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to effectively convey design concepts and collaborate with medical professionals and stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of building codes, regulations, and industry standards specific to healthcare facility design.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
  • Creative thinking, problem-solving skills, and a keen eye for detail.
