Our Essilor production team at Silverwater is dedicated to the manufacturing of high-quality lenses for glasses, carefully crafting each individual order with precision and attention to detail to ensure it meets the exact specifications and unique requirements of each patient. We currently have a casual position available for either an experienced Optical Mechanic or Optical Worker with expertise in Hard Coat and Multi Coat processes. This role would alsi be suitable for someone with strong fine motor skills and keen attention to detail, who is eager to train and develop into a skilled Optical Mechanic. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Chemical preparation of lens coating (including ability to read packaging/labelling, understand and follow chemical instructions and processes)
  • Sorting, loading and transferring of lenses to be coated
  • Machine operating and preparation
  • Process and quality control
  • Occasional sandblasting

Other critical requirements for the position are:

  • Experience in manual handling (role required to safely lift up to 20kg on occasion)
  • Fine motor skills and ability to handle individual lenses carefully throughout the coating process
  • Highly organised with ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • High attention to detail
  • Reliable, punctual, proactive, enthusiastic

Candidates will receive the required training and induction on morning shifts, but may be rostered for shifts on either morning/afternoon or night shift after their training period.
