The Opportunity

Come and discover the opportunity to join our Orrcon Steel Manufacturing team in O’Sullivan Beach as our Operations Manager. Orrcon Steel is a manufacturer of steel tube and pipe and leading Australian steel distributor with nationally recognised brands. 

Due to expansion and growth for this business critical site, we’re looking for a collaborative leader to oversee our site operations strategy and plan. With a focus on safety and continuous improvement, you will lead our multi-skilled team in day to day site operations ensuring our people are empowered with the right development and training so they’re ready to meet the requirements of today and tomorrow.

Excitingly, you’ll also lead and deliver current and future capex projects such as the transformation and integration of our third mill. With your continuous improvement focus and your results driven energy you’ll have the opportunity to take shared ownership and move our business toward the future of manufacturing.

What Will You Do?

You’ll directly and indirectly lead others to achieve optimised operational outcomes. This will see you:

  • set and execute the site operations plan: encompassing safety, manufacturing, scheduling, quality, warehousing and logistics, Capex and projects, budget and people capability
  • drive operational alignment: engage with our site leaders, providing expert operations advice and direction to embed enhancements and synergy across our three on-site mills
  • enable future-focussed innovation and change: collaborate with the National Operations team and your Operations peer network to share, identify and implement manufacturing excellence and service solutions
  • support talent capability and succession planning: guide talent engagement and retention activities including ensuring suitable onboarding, upskilling and professional development of operations talent
  • achieve optimal safety and operational outcomes: ensure effective processes and procedures are in place to keep our people safe and sites compliant with relevant acts, legislation and business policies
