Instrumentation Technician

As Instrumentation Technician, you will uphold the highest standards for Geotechnical monitoring and communication systems at Cadia Valley Operations (CVO), playing a vital role in the Cadia Integrated Tailings Instrumentation Project. Please note, this role will be offered as a 2 year fixed-term contract.
Key responsibilities include but not limited to:
In-field hands-on maintenance and monitoring of geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring systems based on planned Maintenance schedules. Troubleshoot and address technical issues related to geotechnical instruments. Perform regular maintenance and calibration to ensure the accuracy and reliability of data Conduct the proper installation, calibration, and commissioning of geotechnical instruments and monitoring equipment (including instrument communications network and power supply). Collect & collate data on instrument health and performance Conduct geotechnical risk assessments and provide recommendations for risk mitigation measures to prevent slope instability, foundation settlement, and other geotechnical hazards Collaborate with Instrumentation engineers and construction teams to ensure the integration of geotechnical instrumentation Ensure that all geotechnical instrumentation activities adhere to safety standards and guidelines. Identify and implement safety measures to protect personnel and equipment Maintain clear, concise & comprehensive documentation for reporting of instrumentation installations, data collected, and analysis performed Stay updated with the latest advancements in geotechnical instrumentation technology and monitoring techniques. Suggest and implement improvements to enhance monitoring efficiency and effectivenessYou will also possess the following:
Previous experience electrical instrumentation maintenance and commissioning of instrumentation monitoring systems (ideally mining specific, or similar high-risk environments considered) Demonstrable ability to understand geotechnical instrumentation systems: inclinometers, piezometers, settlement gauges, strain gauges, synthetic aperture & Doppler radar, InSAR Sound understanding of risk assessment processes and techniques Current manual drivers licence (essential)Our Commitment to You
