About the role

We are currently seeking assistant supervisors with rail track experience to join our Rail Operations hub based in Seven Hills, NSW.

Rail Operations is an internal business unit within Laing O’Rourke, specialising in the sole delivery of all aspects of Rail, working with a team of technical experts to deliver a high portfolio of work across New South Wales.

We have some of the most prestigious and exciting projects on the horizon.

Key responsibilities

Supervise the planning, programming and delivery of a small section or package of work. Report back to the Supervisor/Senior Supervisor on progress and any challenges relating to materials, quality, safety or resourcing. Contribute to daily pre-start and coordination meetings. Lead a team of workers to achieve scope of works such as rerailing, partial resleepering, turnout refurbishment works, CWR and Rail Welding and minor civil works. Take ownership of a scope of works from the planning, delivery and closeout off the works. Work in with the team to ensure milestones are developed and achieved for any given scope of works. Ensure allocated resources for a given scope of works are used efficiently and safely to achieve project objectives Use the LOR systems and procedures to complete assurance activities for any allocated scope of works. Mentoring and coaching of new employees Identifying and managing tools required to complete a scope of works, being responsible for their upkeep Understand and coordinate the scope of works applicable to the work area and the subcontractors and suppliers, and organise the work sequence to be safe, productive and efficient.

About you

Prior experience in supporting Supervisors in the delivery of small packages of work. Hold relevant qualifications to enable you to work on the Sydney Trains Rail Network Hands on self-delivery experience in achieving the installation and repair of trackwork Strong demonstrated commitment to safety Experience as a Leading Hand or Trainee/Cadet. Basic Computer and tablet usage skills
