The Opportunity

Joining Vicconnect Alliance for the Gippsland Line Upgrade, this role will lead the CBI Data Design function for projects and is accountable to the Engineering Director for day-to-day Design delivery and to the Engineering Manager for line of the relevant Design Package activities. It is responsible for Data Design engineering team management and managing the timely delivery of the design, procurement, construction, and commissioning documentation as related to the project in compliance with all ARO Standards and Project Requirements.

This position is a 12-month fixed term contract.

Key responsibilities include.

·         Perform, review and approve the Designs, Design Management Plans and associated Project Programs for the duration of the project,

·         Provide direction and Guidance on design outputs to ensure compliance with the project requirements, contribute to the configuration of project management systems to ensure compliance by the engineering team in use of the systems,

·         Monitor the adequacy and effectiveness of design resources allocated to the project, and ensure competency requirements are met and maintained for all team resources.

·         Ensure that all necessary reviews, verifications and validations are planned and conducted, and the outcomes of these are incorporated into the design,

·         Review that the design conforms to all safety, environmental, construction, commissioning, and operating requirements,

·         Ensure that the design team provides all necessary support to the procurement, construction and commissioning teams,

·         Liaise with all relevant Authorities on design and construction permits and approvals,

·         Monitor and control timeliness of outputs for all design and liaise with the management to ensure project requirements are satisfied,

Requirements to be successful.

  • Knowledge of Rail Safety National Law is a requirement for Rail Safety Workers.
  • Tertiary Qualifications in Engineering (Civil/Mech./Elec.) at degree level
  • Must have L2 or above in MTM and VLine and/or ARTC Engineering Statement of Competency
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in project related disciplines in the Rail Signalling environment
