ABOUT THE ROLE

  • As the Risk and Improvement Officer, you will be responsible for overseeing and implementing key governance functions to support the council in identifying, managing, and reporting risks effectively. You will ensure the organization adheres to its legislative obligations and contribute to the continuous improvement of risk management processes and practices.
  • Identify and analyze key risks, ensuring they are managed, documented, and reported in alignment with the council’s governance framework.
  • Develop, implement, and review risk management policies, procedures, and guidelines to support ongoing compliance.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to promote a risk-aware culture across the organization.
  • Monitor legislative changes and ensure the council's processes are updated accordingly.
  • Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the council's risk management and compliance programs.
  • Prepare high-quality reports and presentations for senior management and council committees.

ABOUT YOU

  • Proven experience in a similar Risk and Improvement Officer or Governance role, preferably within the local government or public sector.
  • Strong understanding of risk management principles and governance frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation and standards.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • High-level analytical and problem-solving abilities with an eye for detail.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Risk Management, Business, Governance, or a related field (desirable).
  • Must be based in South Australia
