Randstad is currently working with an industry leading organization which delivers major construction projects domestically and internationally, it has a fantastic reputation in the industry and has exceptional relationships with its clients. Many of the projects are set in remote locations and have strict quality and completion targets that must be met. With a current project pipeline of over $150 million of work in hand, this organization is growing rapidly and is expected to be awarded more projects in 2024. As a result, its looking for a proven Contracts Manager/Senior CA to oversee the Contracts Administration function from estimating through to final account.

The Contracts Manager will assume direct control over the management of head contracts and subcontracts, ensuring they are executed in line with project legal requirements and cost estimates and the CM will play a pivotal role in supporting project delivery through effective management of contract processes including preparation, negotiation, and administration.

Suitable candidates will be responsible for:

  • Developing, reviewing, and negotiating contract variations.
  • Managing the end-to-end contract life cycle.
  • Ensuring potential disputes or conflicts are raised at an early stage with clear escalation paths for resolving them.
  • Reviewing the Supplier's performance against Contract KPI's and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Collaborating with the Project Manager to ensure the successful achievement of project goals and objectives.
  • Monitoring work progress, and promptly reporting any variations or changes.
  • Providing valuable advice to the Project Manager, Commercial Manager and other stakeholders in relation to head and subcontracts, the business' entitlements and obligations.
  • Conduct negotiations with subcontractors and ensure all subcontractor agreements are closely aligned to the project’s risk management principals.
  • Interpret and apply relevant legislation/code on the project to prevent potential business exposure. Lead the identification and quantification of Head Contract Scope changes and all subsequent negotiations with the Client.
  • Oversee the calling of quotations and letting of tenders for contracts to be let. Ensure effective contract administration, in conjunction with delivery teams and contract administrators.
  • Manage any disputes or major claims with subcontractor or the client.

Candidates would be expected to have the following qualifications and experience.

  • Essential - Bachelor degree or equivalent in Law, Commerce, Accounting, Quantity Surveying, or Business.
  • 5-10 years of relevant experience in commercial roles within the construction and/or engineering sectors, with proven skills in managing contracts of various complexities and negotiating terms.
  • Desirable - Construction Management qualification, CA/CPA, Postgraduate qualification in a related discipline.
  • 2-5 years as a Contracts Manager.
