We have immediate opportunities for skilled people to undertake world-leading training in the United States (U.S), setting you up for a secure career back home in the nuclear-powered submarine program - Australia's largest-ever industrial endeavour.

You will have access to cutting edge training in Pearl Harbor (Hawaii) for 2-3 years, with some roles completing placements at other locations throughout the USA during the full course of the assignment.

Role & Responsibilities

We are seeking experienced, bachelor’s degree qualified Naval Architects and/or Structural Engineers to fulfil this opportunity. Other degrees with cross over in this space may be considered.

If successful, and once deployed, you will be immersed into the United States Navy processes, procedures and working on the Virginia Class systems in Pearl Harbour or other U.S locations. You will also undertake a combination of instructor led classroom-based training and on the job learning.

Opportunities are available immediately and individuals wishing to express interest in a position should be available and interested in being repatriated in the near term.

At the completion of your deployment, you will return to Western Australia to carry out the planning, management and in-water maintenance activities on the United States Navy Virginia Class Submarines.

Please note this is a Civilian role and recruitment processes will differ from those undertaken in Active Service Defence recruitment.

Eligibility Criteria

The successful person will possess:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture, Structural or Civil Engineering (other degrees with cross over in this space may be considered),
  • This opportunity is open to individuals with between 1-5 + years of experience in your proven field,
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Defence Security Clearance to NV1 level,
  • Deployments to the US in 2024 and 2025
  • Eligibility to obtain an A2 working VISA and International Training Order (ITO) in the US. ASC can discuss this with you during the interview process,
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build and maintain relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
