What you’d be doing in this role

As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. We move fast here at Canva, and this role will certainly keep you on your toes. Since growing to a worldwide team of over 4,000 we need to ensure we’re working as effectively and efficiently as possible, which is where our Operational Business Partners come in. You will be part of our Operations Partnering group, which works to set our leaders and teams up for success by building and evolving the operational rhythm of the groups they support.

At the moment, this role is focused on:

You will partner closely with the People Group Leadership team, People Leadership Operations and other Operations Business Partners to bring clarity, cohesion, and coordination to the group whilst guiding key deliverables.

  • Acting as a thought partner to our People Group leaders on specific goals or programs of work, bringing problem-solving skills and broad operational experience to drive cohesion and clarity to operations across the group. These may include compensation programs, our future fit organisational structure, goal tooling and planning and how to connect the latter two together
  • Working closely with other stakeholders (including Program Managers, other Ops BPs and Team Leads) to develop and maintain project plans, timelines, and milestones and holding them accountable to executing them effectively and efficiently.
  • Facilitating meeting discussions with People Group Leads on organisational goals and next steps. You will help to define meeting objectives, purpose, and agendas and drive the process of breaking goals down into manageable efforts and ensuring they are tracked and delivered - constantly seeking ways to improve the Supergroup goal-planning process. 
  • Driving communications to the other group leads, including the Global Head of People.
  • Driving tracking initiatives, running seasonal planning processes, and assisting with People Group processes, iterating as the organisation grows.
  • Contributing to the planning, key messaging, deck creation and celebrations of events across the group (such as All Hands, Festival of People, cross-functional presentations).
  • Leading and driving initiatives to recognise the hard work of the People Group. 

You're probably a match if;

  • You have proven experience in an Operations, Program or Project Management role, or similar, ideally within the start/ scale up tech environment.
  • You are able to autonomously drive forward special projects , and hold teams accountable to goals and milestones
  • You have experience in Organisational Change Management & Communications, ideally working on People Focused initiatives in an organisation of similar scale and complexity to Canva. 
  • You are confident at prioritising, managing and tracking multiple projects simultaneously with the ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
  • You have a keen eye for detail and are truly self-motivated with a desire to constantly learn , develop and grow an inaugural role to build out the specialty
  • You have integrity and trustworthiness with humility/willingness to question one’s own assumptions 
  • You are able to build relationships and rapport fast and constantly expand your internal network
  • You have the ability to be comfortable operating in the grey . We don't often have all the information required and priorities can shift and change quickly, so a comfort with ambiguity and bringing clarity to these situations is a must.

About the Role

Our Operations Business Partners works alongside the Leadership Operations role, and multiple Group Leads and are responsible for improving how the People Group operates. The main goal is to ensure that the group is incredibly efficient & effective by setting processes and building out operational foundations. In this role you will co-own group wide cadences, communications and goal tracking/planning. You will coordinate critical projects and drive them to unilateral success by coordinating and communicating between key project owners. In short, you'll be the chief wrangler of anything operationally within the group that needs focus.

Using your experience with program/project management, administration, and relationship-building you will work with cross-functional teams and working groups to help Canva to achieve the level of operational efficiency, cooperation & collaboration that our front-line teams need to hit our goals.
