The Opportunity:  

Urbis has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Head of Spatial Products to join our team in Melbourne

This role will lead the National Spatial Team to deliver on-demand spatial maps, overlaying geographic information with data insights. You will play a vital role in shaping cities and communities through meaningful collaboration with internal stakeholders, and the development of innovative products using our data Lakehouse, AI platform, and human movement data.

As a key member of the Technology Leadership Team, you'll drive new product development for spatial both internally and our clients, participate in project prioritisation, and technology management. Your contributions will play a major contribution to our digital strategy and be reported to the Executive Group.

You will:

Provide leadership, direction, supervision, and solutions to the software and spatial team Contribute to the development of research and thought leadership in urban data science Design and implement forward-looking, innovative solutions that utilise internal expertise and skills of a broad cross-unit team of specialists Leverage Human Movement Data (HMD) to provide insights for our clients to assist with improved strategic decision making Elevate and broaden team capability and development in data science; fostering a culture of performance, innovation, and continuous improvement Identify and resolve business problems, to achieve desired outcomes for new initiatives Represent the company and brand, and building relationships with industry stakeholder Run information and knowledge sharing sessions to demonstrate the art of the possible with our business Be responsible for the technology governance for application and solution architecture to help ensure the right solutions are thoroughly considered and implemented;

About you:

A demonstrable background in GIS principles and methods and or software capabilities such as ArcGIS, Esri and / or Nearmap (Azira) and any other data feeds Proven working experience within software engineering teams consulting and/or research with an innovative mindset A track record of strong execution and delivering results working with key business stakeholders to understand the product vision, customer outcomes and aligning the technology stack accordingly Demonstrable experience delivering software via agile software development methodologies Engineering/Computer Science or Data Science Advanced knowledge and experience using ArcGIS, ArcPro, ArcGIS Online, ArcPy, ArcGIS Online/Enterprise and any other geoprocessing tools and analysis toolsets. Tertiary qualifications in Mathematics, Econometrics, Statistics, Software, Engineering/Computer Science or Data Science
