About the role

We are looking for an Autonomous Haulage Systems (AHS) Coach to join and support the Mine Operations team at Brockman 4. This role presents a great opportunity for an existing AHS coach or motivated and experienced operator/pit patroller who has a drive for excellence and training others. You will be responsible for providing AHS productivity coaching and upskilling for mining teams, with an aim to build equipment operating proficiency from competent to excellent.

You’ll be part of a high performing team, supported by your leader to grow and achieve your own personal goals as well as the goals of the team. You’ll work an 8 days on, 6 days off roster which will give you more time to spend on the things that are important to you and the people in your life.

Reporting to the Production Superintendent and working in a supportive and exciting environment you will be:

  • Adhere to all Rio Tinto health and safety standards, policies and procedures and report any safety hazards and risks to the appropriate channels
  • Coach operators on both load and ancillary equipment to increase operational efficiency
  • Coach team members on safe AHS behaviours, including safe loading practices and area management, safe dump interaction and pass area management
  • Observe operating practices and suggest improvements to drive productivity with a data based approach
  • Review performance with operators and individually coach to improve key equipment and system KPIs (spot, load, swing times, dump configuration etc.)
  • Liaise with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEMs)to identify operational productivity best practices
  • Lead recognition programs to improve operator productivity and highlight improvements
  • Support pit patroller skill development and training plans, and develop training packages and pathway for leadership roles
  • Utilise hot seat as mechanism to train operators on an ad hoc basis
  • Foster continuous improvement to identify improvements to current practices and processes to improve productivity, including completing weekly RND audits and identifying AHS improvement initiatives
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of safety incidents and escalation to relevant supervisor where necessary.

  • Experience with Komatsu AHS Systems is advantageous

  • Solid understanding of the fundamental AHS concepts that underpin it’s value in the mining industry
  • Exceptional relationship building skills, coupled with your ability to engage and collaborate effectively with a diverse range of business partners
  • Manual C Class Driver’s Licence
