: WorkSafe ACT is a fully independent office headed by the WHS Commissioner. WorkSafe ACT achieves its objectives through a combination of compliance and enforcement, awareness raising, education, inspection, and investigation. It is responsible for monitoring and enforcing compliance by duty holders in accordance with the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (WHS Act) and associated legislation for Workers' Compensation and Labour Hire Licensing.We have an exciting permanent vacancy for a suitably skilled professional to fill the role of Senior Director, Legal Policy and Investigations. In this pivotal role you will collaborate closely with the WHS Commissioner to shape and lead our newly established Legal Policy and Investigation team.
As the Senior Director, you will be responsible for preparing and leading the preparation of legal policy advice on complex matters related to WorkSafe ACT’s regulatory framework. The Senior Director will oversee investigations, ensuring thoroughness, accuracy, and adherence to legal and investigative standards. This includes leading the investigations function, reviewing briefs of evidence and providing strategic advice to support both criminal and civil prosecutions. The successful candidate must possess strong leadership skills coupled with the demonstrated ability guide and direct the provision of legal policy advice and investigations.
The successful candidate will:
