An exciting opportunity exists for a highly motivated Casual Health Information Services Officers to join our Medical Records team at Newcastle Private Hospital

Come and join our expert team of surgeons, specialist doctors, dedicated nurses and allied health professionals at Newcastle Private Hospital.  We are a 189 bed, acute, private hospital facility co-located on the John Hunter Campus at Rankin Park. The hospital has 11 theatres including a hybrid theatre and a 15 bed Intensive Care Unit.

 

We also have a cardiac suite including a cardiac catheter laboratory and a 16 bed Coronary Care Unit. A private maternity suite including 6 birthing suites and a special care baby nursery is available for families in the Newcastle region.  Our Private Oncology Centre also provides specialty care for individuals and their families/carers undergoing all aspects of cancer treatment and care with both an inpatient unit and day infusion lounge.

 

 As a Health Information Services Officer your responsibilities will include:

·           Medical record preparation and retrieval within strict deadlines

·           Provision of health information to internal and external clients

·           Answering phone call enquires for patient information

·           Filing and preparation of medical records and loose sheets

·           Day to day functionality of the Health Information Service Department

·           Participating in performance improvement activities

·           Culling of medical records

·           Scanning/photocopying information for various requirements

·           Assist with medical record forms stock management & distribution

  

 Essential Criteria:

·           Excellent communication and organisational skills

·           Ability to work autonomously and as a team member in a small team environment

·           Ability to plan and work within deadlines

·           Attention to detail

·           Knowledge of Microsoft Office and General Computer literacy

·           Prior experience in a Hospital or Medical Administration Role

 

 

Desirable Criteria:

·           Previous experience within a Medical Records environment or dealing with confidential records

·           Experience with the WebPAS patient information system

·           Knowledge of basic medical terminology
