ABOUT THE ROLE

As a 1st year apprentice, you will be trained in using precision equipment to produce a variety of metal items for a broad range of applications. You will learn the Mechanical / Machining trade. The successful applicant will attend TAFE one day per week and gain their Certificate III in Mechanical Engineering - Trade qualification. Our apprentices work alongside our highly skilled and qualified trades team to gain hands on experience in all facets of the trade. 

Tasks throughout the apprenticeship include maintaining and repairing machinery, machining, milling, turning, and fitting to manufacture parts to a high standard for use across site in the production of Nuclear Medicine and for ground breaking scientific research. You will learn to read and interpret technical drawings, follow and communicate information on job instruction. Learn mechanical machining, using hand and power tools.

  • Successfully pass pre-employment background security checks, medical, and site inductions

APPRENTICESHIP INFORMATION

During the duration of the apprenticeship (48-months) you will be working full-time (38 hours per week), Monday to Friday learning all the skills of the trade within the working environment. 

You and will attend TAFE one day per week where you will learn theory and practical areas within the trade to gain a Certificate III Engineering - Mechanical Trade and be a qualified tradesperson at the completion of your apprenticeship.

  • Must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or New Zealand Citizen
  • Construction White Card 
  • Must be fully vaccinated 
  • Drivers Licence and Vehicle is required
  • Not have any previous qualifications exceeding a Certificate II in Engineering - Mechanical Trade
