About the Role:

As a Protection and Control Tester, you will perform maintenance testing, operating and commissioning of electrical plant, protection, control metering and communications equipment in zone substations, ehv terminal stations, distribution substations, hv customer installations, and on pole-top installations.

This role will be based at our Brooklyn Depot. 
 
You are expected to meet the company’s customer service objectives of providing safe, reliable, timely and cost-effective supply of electricity and associated services.

Key requirements of the role:

•    Proven experience providing or assisting in testing services of Electrical Plant, Protection & Control systems up to 500kV in a relevant industry
•    Experience in performing electrical testing on medium to complex systems in accordance with established work practices and regulations
•    Operating procedures, practices and outage planning
•    Hold a Sanction for Test authority (SFT) and effectively test plant in accordance with the SFT authority
•    Competent in the use of the IT systems; which will include SCADA, GIS, EDNAR, RESIS (Relay Equipment Settings Information System), Google Enterprise, ENMAC via Webview
•    A practical understanding of business escalation & incident management processes
•    Working understanding of the Company’s work practices & procedures relating to primary & secondary equipment testing

•    Advanced Diploma (ESI Power Systems); or a recognised equivalent qualification (compulsory)
•    ESI Worker (compulsory for Victoria based candidates, no requirement to attach evidence as information is already included in ESI Worker)
•    Statement of Attainment for Competency Standard Units (compulsory)
•    Current Refresher Training records (compulsory)
•    Construction Induction Card (compulsory)
•    High Risk Licence (optional)
•    Car / Heavy Vehicle Licence (optional)
•    Switching training / authority (optional)

Note: Employment will be subject to the candidate successfully completing a pre-employment medical examination (which includes a hearing test, colour blindness and physical examination) as well as relevant drug and alcohol testing and to assess fitness for work, reference checks, as well as Entitlement to Work in Australia checks.
