Ecological assessment is a key aspect of many of Earth System’s projects.

An opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and skilled Senior Hydrologist/Hydraulic Engineer to join our Earth Systems team. The successful candidate will be instrumental in leading the development and implementation of hydrological and hydraulic models for a variety of impactful environmental projects. You will work within a multidisciplinary team, contributing your expertise to complex modelling tasks, flood impact assessments, and water balance studies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop models for a wide range of projects;
  • Develop hydrological and hydraulic models, such as Hec-Ras, QSWAT and SymHyd;
  • Develop water balance models, such as GoldSim, for simple and complex systems;
  • Prepare detailed modelling outputs and specifications using industry-standards software for reports;
  • Perform flood impact assessments and flood risk management plans;
  • Prepare technical inputs for reports and proposals;
  • Mentor junior engineers;

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Essential: PhD degree in Hydrology/Hydraulic Engineering.
  • Demonstrated expertise in hydrology and hydraulic modelling, preferably in environmental impact assessment projects.
  • Proficiency in QGIS and other GIS software.
  • Experience with water balance models, ideally within the mining industry.
  • Coding skills in Python or MatLab preferred.
  • Proven track record of involvement in international projects.
  • Extensive field experience.
  • Exceptional time management and organisational abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with a well-presented professional demeanor.
