About the role
We are looking for a Mechanical Reliability Engineer with experience in a manufacturing facility to join our team in Kooragang Island, NSW on a full-time permanent basis .
Orica Kooragang Island’s manufacturing complex is comprised of an Ammonia plant, three nitric acid plants, and two ammonium nitrate plants. The site has significant dispatch operations, capable of providing bagged, containerized, or bulk products for distribution.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and continuously improving work strategies for all assets within their responsible discipline across the Manufacturing Centre that ensures and improves the availability of the Production Cell(s) of the Manufacturing Centre’s Product Line(s) to achieve their objectives across. Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.
To deliver these responsibilities, the Mechanical Engineer shall work collaboratively across all Manufacturing Centre departments and across the areas of Work Strategies Management, Defect Elimination, Master Data Management, Conditions Monitoring, and Performance Management (KPI’s). #LI-DNI
What you will be doing
More specifically, the Mechanical Engineer will deliver the following within their responsible discipline:
The Mechanical Engineer is required to carefully balance the competing priorities of day-to-day support for the product lines and the proactive efforts of plant reliability improvements to ensure both immediate production objectives and medium- to long-term improvement objectives are achieved.
What you will bring
Role ideally suited to individuals with a minimum experience of 3 years in the petrochemical or chemical manufacturing industry with considerable change management and safety components. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. Good technical engineering skills and understanding with emphasis on pressure systems, high-speed turbo machinery, furnaces, pumps, machine guarding, maintenance cost analysis, and reliability improvement techniques. Well-developed Root Cause Analysis (5-Why, Apollo) problem-solving and decision-making skills. Good understanding of maintenance cost analysis and reliability improvement tools and techniques (FMECA, RCM, etc.) Good understanding of the SAP Plant Maintenance module and experience working with SAP Hana (preferred). Ability to obtain a national police clearance check.
