About the Role
We are seeking the talents of a driven operational and technical leader to join the team at Newman Operations in the capacity of Production Execution Superintendent.
Reporting to the Manager Mining Production you will enable teams to achieve the safe delivery of iron ore to the WAIO supply chain. This role manages a multi-disciplinary team of technical personnel, so an understanding of Mine Planning, Analysis, Training and Workforce Planning would be key. Your ability to work collaboratively and effectively with a variety of stakeholders across the BHP business will be integral to your success.
Key Responsibilities in this role will include:
- Key leadership role in a supportive and experienced team with track record of delivery and performance.
- Evaluating safety and operational performance and driving change to achieve safety, cost and volume targets through processes, equipment, and technology initiatives.
- Provision of insightful productivity analysis and governance of data in line with the BHP Time Usage Model to enable good decision making by Mining leadership.
- Implementing corrective actions to resolve the root cause of complex operational risks/deficiencies and prevent re-occurrence.
- Continually evaluating and implementing opportunities to improve.
- Mentoring Supervisors and Technical personnel to develop broad skillsets in the team.
About You
To be successful in this role you will have demonstrated experience in a similar role combined with genuine passion for continuous improvement, are results focused with a demonstrated track record working with others to achieve successful business outcomes.
In addition, we are ideally looking for the following skills and experience:
- Operational background would be highly advantageous.
- Experience in Mine Planning, Scheduling or Analysis advantageous.
- A passion for leadership, innovation and development of both technical and production teams in an operating environment
- A consistent focus on safety and production through leading and coaching
- The ability to work autonomously to develop and implement programs/projects which may also be across multiple sites or functions.
- Prior experience leading a multi-disciplinary team.
About Newman Operations
Spanning two sites just out of the township of Newman, we pride ourselves on over 50 years of history holding claim to the worlds largest open cut iron ore mine at Newman West and a fully autonomous site at Newman East, employing over 1500 people. With this role you have the choice of either being residentially based in Newman or fly-in fly-out from Perth to Newman on a 5/2/4/3/9/5 roster. As a gateway to the Karijini national park, you will be in close proximity to spectacular gorges, water courses and stunningly unique landscapes. If you would prefer the residential option, you will also be provided with subsidised rental accommodation in addition to power and water subsidies.
