Why Your Role Matters:
The Wellness Support Advisor, Rural Clinical Campuses is responsible for the provision of wellbeing care services for UNSW rural students with social, emotional, health and wellbeing needs through triage, assessment and short solutions-based therapy.
The position holder works closely with the Faculty Wellbeing Officer and senior academic and professional staff at local Rural Clinical Campuses sites, as well as local services and other health professionals. The role will liaise regularly with UNSW Central Services such as Mental Health Connect, Psychology and Wellness, Equitable Learning Service and Student Support Team, as well as the UNSW Medicine and Health academic community. This process will facilitate the critical role in supporting students through a positive wellbeing approach and enhancing the student experience.
This is a 0.4FTE role and requires the incumbent to work 2 days per week between Tuesday, Wednesday and/or Thursday at Port Macquarie campus and travel to Coffs Harbour campus a minimum of once per month, and other times as required.
The position reports to the Manager, Rural Clinical Campuses and has no direct reports.
Who You Are:
Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant post qualifying experience in Psychology, Counselling, Occupational Therapy, Social Work, or Mental Health Nurse with registration or eligibility for registration with the appropriate accrediting body. Demonstrated experience working with individuals who have psychosocial support needs such as mental health, chronic physical health and disabilities, with significant experience conducting psycho-social needs and risks assessments and undertaking short-term therapeutic interventions. Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively and to contribute positively and proactively within a small team, demonstrating self-motivation, initiative and judgement. Capacity to advocate on behalf of students and support them to navigate program and other administrative processes in a complex environment.Benefits and Culture:
