Eileen O'Connor Catholic School (EOCS) is seeking an energetic and passionate Classroom Teacher - Diverse Learning Needs. The successful candidate will be suitably qualified and enjoy working in a dynamic and cohesive team.

This opportunity is for a support class for EOCS based at St Brendan's Catholic Primary School, Lake Munmorah.

This is a temporary Part-time opportunity (0.4FTE) to start on 14 October 2024 and end on 24 January 2025. During this engagement, the successful candidate will be required to work on Tuesday and Friday of every week. Fresh graduates are also welcome to apply.

Specific Criteria

  • Highly effective, skilled classroom practitioner committed to the ethos of the Catholic School
  • Develop, implement, assess, and monitor the individual plans for each student in the support class, including behaviour and personal care support plans.
  • Capacity to contribute to the school's Continuous Improvement Cycle and is committed to student achievement
  • Collaborate with CSBB teachers, Learning Partners and external health and wellbeing service providers to ensure students are engaged in learning with successful outcomes
  • Proven ability to apply sound pedagogical practices to create a motivating and engaging learning environment that caters to the needs of all learners
  • Skilled in analysing and reflecting on student learning data to ensure learning growth for all students.
  • Highly effective in managing and facilitating safe and supportive learning environments with an understanding of positive student welfare practices
  • Willingness to contribute to the broader extracurricular aspects of school life as an active member of the school community
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a dynamic professional learning community.
  • Proficient in the use of technology to enhance student learning
  • Applicants who are not currently working in a Broken Bay systemic school must have a 4-year training qualification or be enrolled to undertake further study that will provide them with a four-year trained qualification to be eligible to apply for any teaching position in the Diocese.

Qualifications and Accreditations

  • Practising Catholic and/or can demonstrate an understanding and commitment to, the ethos of the Catholic faith in an educational context¿
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or working towards an initial teacher education program in accordance with the Enterprise Agreement
  • NESA accredited as Proficient or working towards Proficient accreditation
  • Accredited to be a teacher of Religious Education or in the process of completing RE accreditation (applicable for Primary teachers)
  • Valid Working with Children Check¿

New position on COVID-19 vaccinations

Given the current management of risks associated with COVID-19 in the community, and the gradual wind-back of some settings, CSBB has decided to no longer require all staff to be fully vaccinated, effective 19 September 2022. Staff who are not vaccinated will be required to wear masks when working with children at greater risk of serious illness owing to a medical condition and/or physical disability.
