Overview

As part of the friendly and supportive team at Mount Gambier Hospital, you will provide a range of duties encompassing cleaning, patient care, security and catering.  The security aspect of the role will necessitate assisting with clients, in such a manner as to ensure the safety and wellbeing of everyone involved in accordance with the hospital policies and procedures, and you will also be required to assist with emergency response procedures. Providing assistance and guidance to other employees, you will ensure that high infection control standards are maintained in line with general housekeeping duties, as well as catering and laundry services of the health unit. Orderly and portering duties will ensure patients are safely transported within the facility and also required to carry out mortuary transfers and procedures. You may be required to perform patrolling activities, both inside and outside and either on foot or by car, you will be responsible for the security of the hospital buildings, contents and grounds. The security role will also require maintaining access to site,  manning of admission desk,  and additional tasks required within the security office.

With prior experience in orderly and security roles, you will be competent in dealing with a wide range of people, including managing conflict and dealing with violent, aggressive or agitated people. With a flexible approach to work and rostering systems, you will be able to work alone or within a team environment, and work within set timeframes. You will be willing to provide assistance and cooperation to other staff, and perform under general direction or work under limited supervision. At all times you will be committed to using discretion and maintaining strict confidentiality.
