A new opportunity exists for an experienced project controls professional to become Planner / Scheduler and join Bechtel’s Energy team on the Pluto Train 2 project, based in Karratha, Western Australia.  This is a FIFO role working 3:1 roster.

About the Project:

Pluto Train 2 is the expansion of a second LNG train at the existing Pluto LNG onshore facility near Karratha in Western Australia run by Woodside Energy.

About the Role:

In your role as Planner / Scheduler, you will supervise schedule development, maintenance, monitoring, and recovery plan development activities, responsible for scheduling activities for large projects, or major projects with significant non-routine requirements.

You will need demonstrated skill in identifying, assessing, and providing innovative solutions to planning and scheduling problems as you will help perform project organizational and administrative activities. 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and maintain achievable, resource loaded, logic driven project schedules that integrate Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Start-up and/or Operations work scope into a total project plan that meets the project’s delivery objectives.
  • Provide comments and recommendations for planning requirements relative to staffing and project controls and prepare detailed staffing plans for jobsite activities and functions.
  • Review proposal provisions related to schedule and material control and develops data for contract negotiations.
  • Supervise the collection, verification, and integration of work scope for all entities into the total project plan.
  • Plan, organize, and supervise schedule resource loading and leveling.
  • Perform other duties as required.

What You Bring:

  • Experience in performing, monitoring, and reviewing planning and scheduling functions, which include schedule development, control, and analysis, in the field and the home office.
  • Advanced level of knowledge of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and startup work processes.
  • Knowledge of engineering and construction management customarily acquired over time through specialized instruction or practical experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, direct, perform, review, and present schedule products independently with minimal supervision. This includes using a high level of professional judgment and knowledge related to technical planning and scheduling skills and engineering design, construction, and procurement practices, using Primavera P6 or similar.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience.

Additional Information:

This position has responsibilities that include exposure to changing environmental, construction, and operational conditions, which may include: extensive walking in and around an active construction and/or operations site, climbing ladders, working at heights from work platforms including scaffolding, and mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs), use of personal fall arrest equipment, walking and working on uneven surfaces, working in constricted and/or confined spaces, variable work shifts (e.g., day, night, weekends, 1st, 2nd, 3rd shift, etc.), and work in inclement weather. Some lifting may be required. Candidate must be able to use standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. respirator, harness, life vest, hearing protection, etc.).

The Pluto Train 2 Project is a Major Hazard Facility meaning this is a non-smoking site and no tobacco products – i.e. cigarettes, vapes, lighters, tobacco - are permitted to be brought to the site.

This position is available to both local and non-local personnel. For non-locals (FIFO/DIDO), the working roster is 3/1.
