Our leading Consulting client are hiring for a highly capable MuleSoft Platform Product Manager. The successful candidate must have a minimum of 5+ years experience in Product Management and have a proven track record of successfully delivering enterprise scale Integration/API platforms from conception to launch and mass adoption. This role is an initial 12 months contract opportunity and requires someone with a Baseline Security Clearance.

Core outcomes include:

  • Working across the management and development of products or services across the full lifecycle.
  • Overseeing the organisation’s product and services portfolio and the delivery of customer value and/or user satisfaction over time.
  • Create the product life cycle management framework for internal and external customers and users.
  • Initiate the creation of new products and services and identify new opportunities within that space.
  • Align product management objectives with business objectives and authorise the selection and planning of all product management activities.

Role Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Primary responsibility of defining, implementing and governing an API First strategy for the organisation in a pragmatic way given existing application architectures.
  • Defines the vision, strategy and roadmap for the MuleSoft Platform
  • Responsible for engaging customers to define desirable, viable, feasible, and sustainable solutions that meet customer needs and support the development of these across the full product life cycle.
  • Accountable for defining and manages MuleSoft Platform Epics and Features in Azure DevOps (ADO) through the Platforms Feature funnel/Kanban delivery board, ensuring they meet the Definition of Accepted, Definition of Ready and Definition of Done.
  • Coordinates cross-branch initiatives to ensure the MuleSoft Platform capabilities align with the broader Transformation Program goals.
  • Evaluates the completeness of MuleSoft Platform Features implemented through the ART backlog and accepts them if considered complete.
  • Supports the ongoing development and maintenance of the MuleSoft Platform Architectural Runway required to support the Platform backlog.
  • Responsible for guiding and supporting 2 Product Owners within 2 scrum teams, providing them with accurate business context and receiving feedback on the feasibility of Feature implementations.
  • Advocate for and implementation of best practices in API management and governance.
  • Drives the adoption of new Features through comprehensive change management and training programs.
  • Ensures the Platform enables solutions to be delivered in a consistent, repeatable and reusable way consistent with the objectives of the Transformation Program.
  • Continuously evaluates existing and emerging software and services for potential inclusion/exclusion within the Platform.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with vendors of Platform software and services, ensuring software and services are right-sized, adequately provisioned in budgets, and licensing continuity is maintained.
  • Preserves the integrity and security of the Platform.
  • Defines and tracks key metrics to measure Platform performance and success and use data-driven insights to iterate and improve products over time.
  • Serves as an API and Integration Platform subject matter expert on the MuleSoft Platform, providing guidance and support to internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborates frequently with MuleSoft Product Owners, Architects and Platforms Release Train Engineer (RTE) to guide the Agile Release Train (ART) toward successful delivery.
  • Plays a significant role in ART events e.g. PI Planning, Inspect and Adapt activities and PI System Demos, actively imparting knowledge, collecting feedback, and addressing product-related issues. They may also participate as Business Owners, approving PI Objectives, assessing business value, and managing risks.

Essential Criteria:

A passion for technology and innovation in the API realm, with a customer-centred mindset and a commitment to the delivery of exceptional user experiences.

  • Proven experience (5+ years) as a Product Manager or similar role with demonstrated ability in strategic planning and execution within a large-scale IT transformation program.
  • Successful track record of implementing an API first approach to delivery and a deep understanding of the full API lifecycle.
  • Solid understanding of how to pragmatically introduce an API business layer into an existing SaaS 2 Tier application architecture.
  • Deep understanding and experience in delivering Integration Platforms using SaaS products (Ideally MuleSoft and/or API Platforms)
  • Deep understanding and experience in delivering and managing APIs that will be consumed by 3rd parties. This includes discovery and management via an API portal (Ideally API Community Manager)
  • Successful track record of delivering Integration Platforms and products in accordance with Agile methodologies, ideally SAFe.
  • Expert at managing competing priorities.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills with internal stakeholders including executive.
  • Demonstrated experience creating a collaborative, innovative and efficient working culture.
  • Demonstrated experience of delivering Digital Platforms (As opposed to delivering projects/applications on Platforms).

Desirable criteria:

  • Demonstrated experience of delivering Digital Platforms (As opposed to delivering projects/applications on Platforms).
  • Product Owner certification.
  • Experience using Microsoft Azure DevOps, Microsoft TFS, Jira or Miro to manage project delivery
  • SAFe Certifications and/or experience working in a SAFe or similar environments.

Candidates must be based in the Greater Melbourne Area and must possess existing full working rights - Citizen of Australia + have Baseline Security Clearance.
