The Opportunity:
Start your apprenticeship as a patternmaker with McKechnie Iron Foundry, constructing models that create castings ranging from a few kilos to 25 tonnes. You'll learn to construct patterns out of a range of materials supporting the mining, resource and engineering industries.
Location: Gepps Cross SA
About the role:
- construct full-size engineering models (patterns) out of materials such as timber, cast and reinforced fibreglass epoxy resins, and rigid foam
- mark and cut sections to profiles using bandsaws, disc and bobbin sanders, lathes and routers
- glue sections together during the lamination process
- produce patterns using computer-controlled machines.
About You:
- Must be an Australian Citizen or permanent resident with the right to work in Australia
- Minimum completion of Year 10 High School
- Drivers license and reliable transport
- Good attention to detail and math skills
