About the Role
 
 

Broadmeadow is located in Queensland's Bowen Basin on the traditional lands of the Barada Barna people, 34 kilometres north of Moranbah. It is a longwall underground coal operation. Coal is processed jointly with coal from the Goonyella Riverside open cut operation.
 
 

Broadmeadow is currently seeking an Underground Geologist to join the Geology & Geotechnical team on a 12-month fixed term basis. Working a 7/7 days only roster and reporting to the Superintendent Geology and Geotechnical, you will focus on the identification of geological hazards that could result in production impacts. Preparation of exploration programs and the analysis of a wide range of data sets is an important aspect of the role. You will also be responsible for supervising contract drilling companies, preparing and maintaining budgets while working closely with the site Geotechnical Engineers. 
 
 

A committed approach to safety and the ability to communicate effectively with personnel at all levels of the organisation is a key requirement of the role.
 
 

Your responsibilities

  • Underground Mapping
  • Preparation of Panel Hazard Plans
  • Providing input into Authority to Mine process
  • Management of exploration activities and service hole drilling
  • Communication geological information to stakeholders

 
 

About You
 
 

You will have a suitable degree in Geoscience, with significant experience in underground coal geology. Your ability to communicate geological information to mitigate production risk will ensure your success in this role.
 
 

Extensive experience in underground mapping and exploration is mandatory. Experience with Vulcan, Geobank/Plexer and Autocad would be advantageous.
 
 

You will also possess excellent relationship building skills, coupled with a high level of motivation, results-orientation and the ability to work as part of a team.
