Risk Business Partner - Corporate
Effective risk management is key to AEMO’s day to day role of maintaining the power system and markets for Australia and planning the energy system for the future. It is also an essential part of AEMO’s energy market reform delivery and corporate transformation programs.
Part of the Finance & Governance Division, the Risk & Compliance team is responsible for ensuring effective risk management for the organisation, including implementation of the Enterprise Risk Management system.
This role is the primary partner for the Finance & Governance, People & Culture, and Government & Stakeholder Divisions for all aspects of risk and compliance, and responsible for driving implementation of the Enterprise Risk Management system. This includes playing a hands-on role in the identification, assessment and management of risk and embedding a healthy risk culture in the Division. The Risk Business Partner will maintain effective relationships with Divisions to provide robust Second Line support, enablement and oversight for risk and compliance.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Develop a deep understanding of each Division’s strategy and objectives, core processes, and the related risk and control environment
- Influence stakeholders to establish plans and drive outcomes that grow and support the maturity of risk management, aligned with Group enterprise risk and compliance priorities
- Be an active contributor to the growing Risk Community of Practice within AEMO, sharing insights, experiences and better ways of working
- Effectively communicate the scope, purpose and benefits of the Risk Blueprint frameworks, tools and initiatives to partner Divisions (and, where appropriate, provide hands-on training and enablement) to ensure that they become fully embedded ways of working
- Support partner Divisions to embed risk in key decision-making activities and provide relevant risk insights from reporting and data
- Facilitate cross-divisional collaboration for assessing and responding to key risks (strategic and emerging), enabled through strong awareness of the Top Enterprise Risks and key areas of focus/developments in non-partner divisions
Experience and knowledge
- Extensive experience in enterprise risk management or related discipline
- Experience in the energy sector is highly desirable, those from consultancy, finance and government backgrounds are encouraged to apply
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, ability to engage and present at executive level
- Understanding of the regulatory compliance environment for the respective Divisions including both applicable energy and non-energy obligations
- Knowledge and experience in practical application of better practice Risk Management tools e.g. bowtie analysis, risk appetite statement and performance management, use of GRC systems
AEMO is an equal opportunity employer. We embrace diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive workplace for all employees
