As an Apprentice you will work under supervision, while developing skills and abilities to compliment your studies and gaining valuable information plus industry experience in a supportive atmosphere. This fantastic Apprenticeship will provide the opportunity to grow and gain valuable knowledge in the horticulture industry whilst becoming part of a friendly and enjoyable working environment.

Apprentice Responsibilities;

  • Checking and maintaining parks and gardens on a daily basis and reporting any service requirements
  • Performing basic garden and tree maintenance including manual and chemical weeding, raking and removal of low branches
  • Mix and spray or spread fertilizers, herbicides, or insecticides onto grass, shrubs, and trees, using hand or automatic sprayers or spreaders.
  • Plant seeds, bulbs, foliage, flowering plants, grass, ground covers, trees, and shrubs, and apply mulch for protection, using gardening tools.
  • Follow planned landscaping designs to determine where to lay, sow grass, or plant flowers and foliage.
  • Care for established lawns by mulching, aerating, weeding, and trimming and edging around flower beds, walks, and walls.
  • Mow and edge lawns, using power mowers and edger's.
  • To assist with the cultivation and maintenance of turf and cultivated areas and undertaking routine maintenance using appropriate equipment.
  • To assist with the maintenance and development of ornamental areas including planting, pruning and hedge work.
  • Irrigation systems
  • Safe handling of chemicals
  • Litter collection activities
