Our client is an Adelaide based steel fabrication and erection specialist – within both the commercial and residential sectors. Established as a family business in 1987, in that time they have undertaken thousands of projects, cementing relationships with clients, and achieving remarkable scopes of work.
Qualifications & experience
- Tertiary studies or degree in Civil/Structural/Mechanical Engineering or Project Management is preferable
- 3-5 years experience in Project Management in the Structural Steel Fabrication and Erection industry
- Demonstrated skills and knowledge about structural steel fabrication
- Strong understanding of building construction processes
- Strong communication and conflict resolution skills
- A current drivers license
Tasks & responsibilities
- Manage contractual/commercial of Structural Steel projects including the coordination of drafting, manufacturing, erection and administration of multiple projects.
- Liaise with clients including negotiation and follow up with the builders, engineers, architects, trades etc. on issues arising with specific job requirements and RFI’s.
- Negotiate sub-contractor arrangements & pricing for all outsourced services including surface treatment, drafting, and erection etc.
- Monitor each job according to the scope of works agreed, budget allocated, submit variations on time, submit progress claims, review and approve invoices.
- Work in conjunction with WH&S Department to develop SWMS and Quality Plans.
- Monitor project schedule and milestones
- Visit site as required, attend coordination meetings, weekly production meetings and prepare project close out reports
