We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Speech Pathologist to join our team to work as part of our weekend roster.

About the Speech Pathology Department:

We have over 30 speech pathologists working across all three sites of Austin Health, in acute care, sub-acute care, rehabilitation and community programs. We function as one department and work in clinical teams in a supportive, friendly environment. Our work includes clinical services, research, quality and improvement, staff and student education.

About the role

This position is based at the Austin Hospital acute site and will work as part of the weekend roster. This is a very autonomous position as we roster only one staff member form our pool on Saturdays, Sundays and every public holidays except Christmas Day.

We have a very flexible approach whereby you can nominate for whatever number of shifts that work for you. Phone support during your allocated shift is available for urgent situations by contacting the Speech Pathology Manager or Grade 4 Acute and Ambulatory Stream Leader. Our weekend staff usually work for a period of around 6 hours and perform communication and swallowing assessments for patients in all areas of the acute hospital. Once you are part of our casual pool there may be other opportunities to undertake casual work with us during periods of backfill and leave.
