Mineral Resources has a great opportunity for an experienced Senior Non-Process Infrastructure (NPI) Package Engineer to join our high performing Engineering team based in our state of the art office in Osborne Park.

Mineral Resources current projects include the flagship Onslow Iron Project, upgrades at our Wodgina, Mt. Marion and Bald Hill operations and the Lockyer Gas Project.  In addition to delivering on a pipeline of in-house projects there is a continuous flow of NPI and crushing projects for the CSI Mining Services business along with numerous studies developing project opportunities across our Iron Ore and Lithium commodity groups.

About the role

The Senior Non-Process Infrastructure (NPI) Package Engineer is responsible for facilitating design, supply and the expediting of vendor and supplier scopes for supply/design and construct contracts relating to Non Process Infrastructure and Services on mining projects.

As part of the role, you will provide integrity and knowledge in key areas of civil and earthworks engineering, including regulatory codes, legislative requirements and best industry practice.

The NPI SPE will be part of the 3000 strong CSI Engineering and Construction team who are currently self-delivering the $3 Billion Onslow Iron Project among others. With a team of over 80 in-house engineers and designers in our Osborne Park offices this role be will supported by experts in all disciplines.

In this position you’ll:

  • Define NPI user requirement specifications with relevant stakeholders.
  • Provide technical input for design and supply contracts and develop scope of work documentation.
  • Review and plan projects with the project team to ensure technical aspects of each job are clear.
  • Provide a focal point for technical based queries.
  • Liaise with both in-house and external designers and detailers as required for the successful completion of each project.
  • Assist in project reporting including schedule updates.
  • Review project schedules, Contractor Data Requirement List (CDRL) and develop procurement registers based on site installation dates to ensure all deliverables are within the required timeframe and contractual requirements.
  • Facilitate in the management of third party consultants who are engaged on large scale projects or as required for specialised design.
  • Interface with the design teams during design development of assigned areas.
  • Facilitate design and constructability reviews.
  • Provide technical support during NPI construction activities.
  • Promote cost savings and identify improvement opportunities with regards to design, engineering and work practices.
  • Assist in the major equipment purchases including assisting in technical bid evaluations.
  • Organise meetings with project key stakeholders as required to expedite issues and resolutions.

Necessary skills and qualifications:

  • Tertiary Qualification in Engineering.
  • Minimum 8+ years experience in a similar position.
  • Mining related industry experience working on large design and construction projects.
  • Diverse project experience from the design phase through to commissioning preferred.
  • International Project experience preferred.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and manage time effectively.
  • Strong written, verbal communication and team membership skills.
  • High level of PC literacy across AutoCAD suite, Navisworks, and Microsoft Office Packages.
