About the Role
As a key member of Port’s high-performing Maintenance team, you will own reliability outcomes and performance improvements for wear systems across our vast install base of >180 chutes, bins and hoppers at Port. As one of Port’s highest material cost categories, your ability to optimise wear systems for safety, cost and performance will have significant impact on WAIO’s bottom-line. Additionally, you will:

- Partner with independent testing providers and wear liner suppliers to conduct testing, research and development of emerging liner materials and maximise reliability & cost outcomes for BHP;
- Collaborate with internal engineering and operational teams to improve wear system designs and performance, including making recommendations to update specifications and standards;
- Sustainably improve the effectiveness of Port’s wear liner inspection strategies and wear management systems and processes, including QA/QC.
- Provide short-term operational support to frontline operations and maintenance teams relating to the performance of wear systems;
- Maintain strategic relationships with site and functional stakeholders (e.g. Maintenance Planning, Maintenance Strategy Governance, Supply, Engineering, etc.) to achieve optimal outcomes for Port Maintenance;
- Ensure all blueprint changes to wear systems are managed through the BHP Engineering Management of Change process; and
- Contribute to the technical development of Graduate Engineers.
This role can be FIFO from Perth or Residential based in Port Hedland working a 5D2X4D3X roster.
About You
To make a difference in this role, you will have a demonstrated history of value delivery in large and complex bulk materials handling operations. - Tertiary qualification (Bachelors or above, or trade-equivalent) within Mechanical or Materials Engineering.
- Proficiency in extracting data and insights from 1SAP CMMS, DAS.
- Proficiency in data visualisation and business intelligence software (PowerBI, TIBCO Spotfire, PI Vision, SQL) not essential but highly regarded.
