The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Fabrication Technician with a minimum of 3 years relevant industry experience, preferably with experience in advanced manufacturing within the aerospace industry. The role is responsible for performing fabrication process operations to a high standard on challenging and complex parts using specialised tools in accordance with production process data including engineering specifications, work instructions and procedures. You'll be part of a growing production team, interfacing with some of the most advanced engineering manufacturing technology in the industry.

Position Responsibilities

• Apply specialist knowledge and experience to efficiently perform fabrication process operations to a high standard on challenging and complex parts.
• Operate multiple CNC fabrication work centres (e.g. CNC Brake Press, CNC Waterjet Cutter, CNC Router) to reliably and efficiently produce conforming parts without supervision in accordance with the production plan and supplied process data.
• Understand, interpret and contribute to the development of production process data (relating to a field of speciality) including Parts Manufacturing Information (PMI), composite laminate schedules, cure cycles, material specifications, tools and skills.
• Report issues and defects relating to production operations (including appropriately detailed supporting information) and follow non-conformity processes including performing complex rework order process operations when required.
• Maintain accurate records and traceability of production process operations including inputs and outputs.
• Perform verification process operations on fabricated parts and assemblies using company and industry standard testing tools and approaches.
• Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to always ensure a safe working environment for self and others.
• Collaborate with team and provide direct technical inputs to positively influence achievement of DIFOT.
• Maintain work centers and production areas to a high level of cleanliness.
• Engage with engineering and production teams to provide feedback production process data, including working to document and deploy process improvement initiatives and develop or evolve internal standards.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose issues at fabrication work centres and support other team members to resolve their issues whilst informing updates to process.
• Perform required quality processes including checking and maintaining calibrated tools and equipment used in composites work centre operations.
• Mentor and support team members in learning and performing skills, including specialist skills.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years relevant industry experience operating work centers such as CNC Brake Press, CNC Waterjet Cutter and CNC Routers.
• Relevant trade qualification highly desirable.
• Proven experience performing quality processes including checking, maintaining and calibrating tools and equipment.
• Experience mentoring others in learning and performing skills highly desirable.
• Forklift license highly desirable but not essential.
